Just to interject here before I get back to my Isaiah 48 sequel, I was inspired last night by some very fortunate news to post my current favorite people and why they made the list. Stay tuned for future lists…will you be on it???
10.Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant: for continually bringing sunshine and painfully awkward silences into my life.
9.The guy at DSW shoes: for saying my shoes smelled like fire.
8.American News Media: for taking our minds off Iraq for a day by covering ad nauseam a story involving an ignorant radio jockey saying something really stupid.

7.Will Ferrell: for not being afraid of a volatile backlash from a potentially irate ice dancing community.
6.The guy that invented Sudoku: for giving me something to keep me awake while I sit idly by a pool at 5 in the morning.
5.This guy – Nakamatsu: for being a veritable portrayal of determination in the midst of certain defeat.
4.Sanjaya – For the boldness to rock a hairstyle that can only be described as a cross between a cockatiel, a rooster, and a Roman Centurion’s helmet.
3.My family: for a much needed relaxing Easter celebration…despite shooting down my paint-egg war idea.
2.Sam Boyd: no explanation required (and only temporarily usurped from his usual #1 position)
1.Karyn Traphagen: for allaying my fears if only for a short time by postponing the OTI reading midterm…but come now, is Brueggemann really necessary?

Uh, Mike, placing Sanjaya and Nakuma…Nakumatsama…Naka…well, Not-gonne-be-governor-of-Tokyo, anyways, above the venerable Will Ferrell is utterly reprehensible. Hang your head in shame and go sit outside the camp. You shall be unclean until the evening.

Denise — I hope not. Although Dave had raised a good point: had the shoes been running shoes, that would’ve been the most awesomest compliment ever — I run so fast my shoes smell like fire! But they were dress shoes.
Dave — you see, Will makes a living out of being an idiot. Sanjaya is like 17 years old and is just a squirrel tryin to get a nut, so what’s up?? And the Naka-be-governor-of-Tokyo guy (hysterical btw), you may have a point there. I shall hang my head in shame till mid-afternoon as a compromise.

Seriously, Sam’s coolness is indeed a powerful entity, one to be carefully reconned with. But I’m not sure of anything powerful enough to compete with the utter utopia of delayed pain…and OTI is painful, oh so painful. No offense, Dr. Enns… by the way, Enns said I looked like an idiot today. I took it as a complement because I did in fact look like an idiot. And hey, Enns spoke to me, which is always flattering (in a deprecating sort of way).

Mike-
You are in good company. When I took OTI, someone (not me) asked a question or made a comment or something like that (for some people, these are one and the same thing), which evidently went too long. Petey Enns (I can call him that now) said, and I quote: “The more you talk, the dumber you are.”
Maybe it was opposite day. Wednesdays were opposite days when I was growing up, so maybe Petey was calling you “not-an-idiot.”

I found its best not to speak in ‘His’ presence, our reflections are only the mere ectype thoughts of the archetype one
I will never forget Peter (not Petey yet) Enns comments on my independent paper under hiim, “Tony I think you might really have ADD, have you sought help?” Mmmm, Dr. Enns is the awesome one
Sam, Karyn is pretty cool!!!!
Mike you’ll find this hilarious, my wife knows a tone of Indians at Campbells Soup and they say there are several Indian call centers overseas who continue to vote for him and that’s why he’s still around…hmmm, the seduction of conspiracy theories…
